Summer Reading

June  2020 For Students entering 6th Grade in September
 
Dear Students,
      Welcome to 6^th grade.  You will be reading one book this summer, Isabel Feeney, Star Reporter by Beth Fantaskey. It is an interesting story about a girl “newsie” in Chicago in the 1920s who hopes to solve the murder of a mobster.  If you do not know what a “newsie” is, you’ll find out when you read the book.
     As you read, you’ll have a worksheet to complete.  Please make sure questions are answered in complete sentences.  For question # 3 there is a detective but there is also someone else trying to solve the crime.  List both people. When you choose the three most likely suspects, make sure to include the person accused of the crime.
     Please bring the completed assignment and the book with you on the first day of school.  The assignment will be collected on the first day back and we’ll use the book throughout the first few weeks for another assignment.
     I hope you enjoy the book. Have a great summer and I’ll see you at the end of the summer!
