Welcome to 2nd grade!
This summer we are requiring the students to read one of the two suggested books from the Archdiocesan book list. If your child wants to read both books by all means encourage this! Have them keep a list of the books and bring it to school in September to share!
ASSIGNMENT
Choose one title to read by her/himself or together with a parent. Your child is required to complete a project about one of the books he/she read.
Your child must choose one of the following activities…
· Make a poster about the book. Include the title, author, and illustrator and draw a picture depicting a scene from the book.
· Create a diorama about the book. The diorama would depict a scene from the book and also include the book’s title and author somewhere on the project.
· Create a new book jacket for the book.
· Complete a book report.
The idea is to have fun! We hope you enjoy reading the stories and creating the project.
Just remember MOST children enjoy being read to, and ALL children benefit from it. Reading together creates a special bond and it is a special time between parent and child.
Thanks so much for your support with this assignment. May it bring joy to you and your child over the summer and encourage your children to be lifelong readers.
Happy summer and happy reading!
